Graphic Design by Bethany Marie

These two pieces are the beginning to a series that I plan to continue in the near future.

The first, "The New School of Athens" is my take on Raphael's original piece  "The School of Athens," which featured influential members of society in his time. For my version of the piece, I incorporated people who would currently be considered "influential." These include Barack Obama, Miley Cyrus, Lance Armstrong, Randy Pausch, Mickey Mouse, James Bond, Tom Cruise and Oprah. I also changed the  color scheme from day to night.

For the second piece, which was completed as an assignment for an Intermediate Graphics course, I incorporated my face into the popular June 1985 National Geographic Cover, titled "Afghan Girl." I do NOT claim rights to this photograph, and the original is copyrighted by the photographer Steve McCurry.
