The teacher understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies, including the use of technology, to encourage children's development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills.

Standard 5: Teachers know how to manage a classroom. (Wisconsin Educator Standards)

The teacher uses an understanding of individual and group motivation and behavior to create a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation.

Professional Development Action Plan: I will discuss current behavior issues of cognitively disabled students with my mentor teacher, and work with her to modify the students behavior for the betterment of the overall classroom environment.

Goal 2: To create new and unique lesson plans designed specifically for students with special needs, matching their abilities and helping them to grow and succeed with art.

Standard 7: Teachers are able to plan different kinds of lessons. (Wisconsin Educator Standards)

The teacher organizes and plans systematic instruction based upon knowledge of subject matter, pupils, the community, and curriculum goals.

Professional Development Action Plan: I will develop new lesson plans from scratch, and discuss them with my mentor teacher. I will work to try and incorporate these lesson plans into my experience at Onalaska Middle School through my time spent in their CD classroom.
